Is this allowed?
Yes. LinkedIn's Thought Leader Ads program explicitly supports sponsoring posts from people outside your company (customers, advisors, practitioners) with the author's approval, requested and granted inside LinkedIn itself. We never run anything without that approval on record.
What does it cost the person who wrote the post?
Nothing. And we never pay for posts. The author gets their post put in front of tens of thousands of people in their market, on your budget. That reach-for-credibility exchange is why almost everyone says yes, and why the content stays genuine.
What if nobody is praising us?
That's exactly what the free audit finds out. If your proof inventory comes back thin, we'll tell you, show you what we looked at, and you'll have lost nothing. (Across our audits so far, every product company with a real user base had unused praise. Most had it from the last 7 days.)
